My likes and loves // #LittleLoves Summer 2018

Toby and Gabe enjoying their summer holiday

It’s been a while since I wrote my last Likes and Loves post – I think the summer just got away from me! And in fact my last post was for May and June, so maybe I’ll just keep to writing them every two months, maybe I’ll have a bit more to say then. So anyway, as we head into September and autumn is upon us, here are my #LittleLoves – the summer edition. Read more

Starting our garden makeover

Small circular lawn at our old house

Around this time last year I wrote about our garden makeover plans… and if I’m honest we’ve done absolutely nothing to the garden since. Until this week! But more about that in a minute. Last summer we did hire a gardener to come and cut the grass every couple of weeks – we have so much of it that we could never keep on top of it. Read more

Fit by 40 // How did I do?

On my 40th birthday night away

Last year, just after I turned 39 I was pretty miserable in my body, and with myself. I wrote a sort of poem and then decided to do something about it. Over the last 12 months I have written lots of updates about my ‘Fit by 40’ progress but now I actually am 40 (well 40 and a month now) how did I actually do in my mission? Read more

Me in my new Lucy & Yak dungarees

A few weeks ago I realised it had got so far into June that it really wasn’t worth me writing a May likes and loves post so I just decided to wait and combine the two months into one post! Since my last post we’ve had my birthday and half term, and now we’re only a few weeks off the summer holidays! Time is absolutely flying at the moment (which is probably why I’m not keeping up with all the blogging I want to be doing!) Read more

School clothes can be one of the most expensive school supplies. Fortunately, there are tricks to spend less. Here are a few ways to cut the costs of school clothing. Read more

Becoming a work at home mum // A decision

Looking on the bright side - trying to think positively about pelvic organ prolapse

As some of you may know before I had Gabe I was working as a Modern Languages teacher – I taught French and Spanish in secondary schools before we moved back to the north west from Scotland. Had we stayed in Scotland I probably would have gone back to work after my maternity leave finished when Gabe was one. But moving house changed things, and we’re now two years on and I still haven’t gone back to teaching. It’s seems it’s time to make a decision. Read more

Fit by 40 // 23 days to go

Fit by 40 weight loss diaries

Last year, just after my 39th birthday I decided I had had enough of being overweight, unfit, tired and generally pretty fed up with my body and how I felt about myself. I even wrote a poem about it! I’ve been writing various updates about my ‘Fit by 40’ mission for the last year, and so with just 23 days until the big 4-0 I thought I’d give you another little update about where I’m at just now.
