Friday, and we have made it to the end of the second week of Year 1. The transition from Reception hasn’t been plain sailing for Toby, and I’m sure we’ll have a while yet before he’s fully settled in Year 1. After a great first day when he was literally the first one in the classroom with a smile on his face things haven’t gone quite so smoothly so I thought I would fill you in on what’s been happening and how we’ve been dealing with it, or trying to at least! I can’t believe we’re halfway through September already! Although having said that it feels like absolutely ages ago that we were on holiday and I wrote last month’s Siblings post. Since then we had two weeks at home, and then two weeks with the boys back at school and nursery. Read more

I don’t know about you but during the week, mornings are busy in our house, especially now the boys are back at school and nursery. Barry works in Manchester three days a week and leaves the house at 5:30AM so it’s up to me to get everyone up, fed and out of the house on time. Weekends are a different matter though and we all enjoy sitting together for a more leisurely family breakfast. Read more
It’s been a while since I wrote my last Likes and Loves post – I think the summer just got away from me! And in fact my last post was for May and June, so maybe I’ll just keep to writing them every two months, maybe I’ll have a bit more to say then. So anyway, as we head into September and autumn is upon us, here are my #LittleLoves – the summer edition. Read more

Well I don’t know about you but we are well and truly into autumn up here in the north. The boys are back at school. Strictly and The X Factor are back on the telly and I’ve even had to turn the heating on this week! Read more
And so this is it. The summer holidays are over. I thought it was going to be a really long six weeks but actually it feels like it has gone really quickly – I guess being away for two weeks in the middle helped! This last week was a bit different, as I mentioned in last week’s post. Read more

It’s now over two years since we moved from Scotland to our new house here in Lancashire. I’ve written a few times before about the work we have already done and some of our plans for the future. We are planning on staying in this house for the long term so although we are interested in adding value to the property we are more concerned with making it the house we want to live in. Read more
Another month done and the long hot summer is over. August for us was mostly about our holiday in France. We went to the Dordorgne for two weeks with my parents and brother and sister-in-law and it was fab. We celebrated Gabe’s third birthday while we were away – I wonder if it will be the first birthday he really remembers when he’s older? The two weeks since we came home have been very quiet with us spending a lot of time at home just resting, relaxing and hopefully preparing ourselves for the return to school and nursery next week. I am writing this sitting in Starbucks as Gabe has his second settling in session at his new nursery. At just three years old this will be the fourth nursery he’s gone to so we’ve been through all this several times before. I know he’ll be fine, and I really think that once he’s settled this nursery will be better for him than the preschool he was at before but it doesn’t make leaving him upset any easier. Read more
