And so this is it. The summer holidays are over. I thought it was going to be a really long six weeks but actually it feels like it has gone really quickly – I guess being away for two weeks in the middle helped! This last week was a bit different, as I mentioned in last week’s post.
On Tuesday Toby went to a summer holiday camp run by the local football club at his school while Gabe went to his first settling in session at his new nursery. He enjoyed it once he was there but dropping him off was a long, drawn out process involving lots of tears, from Toby, then from Gabe and eventually from me too! As I predicted he was absolutely fine within five minutes of me leaving but it doesn’t make it any easier to go when he’s so upset. He was a bit better when I left him on Thursday but we still had a few tears. I’m hoping the return to school tomorrow will be easier and less dramatic!
Gabe did a slightly better at his settling in sessions – he didn’t actually cry when I left him on Tuesday, although I was only gone for an hour and he was crying when I came back. Despite that he did say he’d enjoyed it and he was reasonably happy to go back for another hour or so on Thursday. Apparently he had cried a bit when I wasn’t there but they managed to calm him down and he was OK when I got back. Today is his first full day, although I think I’m going to pick him up earlier than I will be doing usually, just to give him a bit more chance to get used to it. Fingers crossed it doesn’t take him too long to settle in properly.
I didn’t take many pictures this week though – these were taken yesterday when I was getting some photos for a brand collaboration we’re working on (I’ll leave it to you to guess what for!). They might have driven me mad for a lot of the last six weeks but I’m going to miss these two faces when they’re at school and nursery…
The summer has gone fast. I hope they go back to school and nursery easily. Cute photos. #livingarrows

The summer flew by didn’t it! Hope the return to school has gone of for you, it is so awful leaving them when they’re upset isn’t it, even if you know they’ll be fine within minutes! x #LivingArrows
