Well, thankfully after the first few days of fighting Toby and Gabe have settled down a bit and I think got more used to having each other around all the time again. We’ve had a fairly quiet week this last week though. I think the boys needed a bit of time to decompress after the busy last few weeks of school. Read more
One of my favourite things to do when I was younger was to get the big photo albums down from the shelf in my mum and dad’s spare room and look through all the old pictures from when I was little. Of course as a child born in the 70s there aren’t that many photos from my childhood and each album would probably cover a few years. Things are very different now and since the boys were born I have taken literally tens of thousands of my pictures but they are nearly all on my computer and hardly ever get looked at. Read more
A recently wrote an update about Toby now that he is 5 years old (seriously, how did that happen?) and now I’ve also managed to film his birthday Q & A. We started doing this last year, just after he turned 4 – you can watch that video here. Read more
We made it to the summer holidays but if I’m being honest it hasn’t been the relief I was hoping for. Since we picked Toby up from school at 2pm on Friday the boys have done nothing but squabble and whinge! I’m really hoping that when the end of term tiredness has worn off a bit they both settle down, otherwise it’s going to be a very long 6 weeks! Read more
I’ve not been writing much in the way of personal posts lately and I think that’s because I’ve had quite a bit going on and not really known how to write about it. Before I start, this isn’t a ‘woe is me’ post – I’m doing OK but I just wanted to share a bit of what has been going on with me lately. Read more
Five years old. That tiny 6lb 10oz baby born five years ago in the middle of a heatwave, is now five years old and about to finish his first year at school. It’s been quite a year for Toby and he has changed so much since he turned 4, he is definitely a proper boy now and there is nothing of the baby and toddler left of him. Read more
I’m just going to write a quick post this week because I’m writing this on Sunday night, it’s late, and I’m shattered after Toby’s birthday party today! Of course this week’s big event was Toby turning five on Wednesday. He was at school for his birthday but he had a great day by all accounts. Read more
It’s the middle of the month which means it’s Siblings time again. We’ve had a month of sunshine (just like the rest of the country) and with the heat and getting close to the end of term Toby and Gabe have been very tired and emotional. We’ve had plenty of fun though among the tears and tantrums. Read more

Around this time last year I wrote about our garden makeover plans… and if I’m honest we’ve done absolutely nothing to the garden since. Until this week! But more about that in a minute. Last summer we did hire a gardener to come and cut the grass every couple of weeks – we have so much of it that we could never keep on top of it. Read more
I’m going to try and get through this post without mentioning the weather….it is hot though isn’t it? We’ve survived another week – only two more to go to the end of term now and I think we are all counting down the days! Read more
