Seriously, where is the time going? I can’t believe we’re in June already and almost half way through the year. It’s seems like I write another Livings Arrows post every three days!
This week’s picture of Toby was taken at home on Thursday while Gabe was having a nap. Can you believe he’s four next month and I have never let him paint at home! I’m really not a big fan of mess and I knew it wouldn’t be fun for either of us with me hovering over him trying to avoid any spills.
But he’s nearly four though, and he doesn’t really like getting messy either, so we gave it a go. And it was great. He spent some time mixing colours to see what happened, then we made a butterfly picture by putting paint on one side of the paper and folding it in half. Finally we made some art for our kitchen wall by putting red and yellow paint on some canvases, covering them in clingfilm then splodging it all together. And I’m actually pretty impressed with them! Anyway, it was a great success – I’m not sure how long it will be before I let Gabe get in on the painting action though!
Gabe’s picture was taken on Friday. We went to Clitheroe where my mum and dad were staying in their caravan. My brother and sister-in-law were there too as they were on a trip up north to look at houses – they’re hoping to move back up this way sometime soon.
Gabe loves being outside and allowed to just run free. He had his new waterproof trousers on because the grass was really wet and he kept falling over, and we were going to go an play by the river after too. And then a couple of ducks appeared and he was so happy! Quack quack was one of the first real words he ever said (although it’s more like cack cack) and he spent literally about 15 minutes just following them about saying quack quack! At one point he fell over and then just crawled after them for a while – he looked like he was stalking them or something but he was loving it. I’m not sure how the ducks felt about it though…
I’m the same with paint, it doesn’t come out that often. But Alice loves it when I do. Beautiful photos x #LivingArrows
Love how happy Gabe was to see the ducks! And how sweet that one of his first words was ‘quack’ – Nerys always sounded like she was swearing when she tried to say it as a toddler! Toby looks like he was really concentrating on his painting, I bet he loved getting arty with you. We quite often paint at home, I’ve learnt to embrace the potential mess! x #LivingArrows
Oh look at Gabe go!! I am completely anti-mess too and we hardly ever do painting or messy stuff at home. Toby looks a pro at painting though! x
Our one loves painting but not at home – I have some brilliant photos of her painting her face and hands though! Gabe looks like he’s on a mission there! #LivingArrows
Parker just peered over my shoulder as I was reading this, and now he won’t stop shouting quack quack! I hate painting too.. far too messy haha xx
Oh good for you! We’ve started to paint more often lately – I do think after 4 they get more controlled and there is less mess than with toddlers! Lovely captures as always. x
