I know we’re nearly a week into November now but I wanted to share these family pictures from October, especially since we managed to get two this month! They were both taken when we went to the Lake District at half term.
Other than our weekend away, October was a pretty quiet month. We went to our monthly family forest school session, the boys went to their swimming lessons, and Barry had a weekend exhibiting with the video game he’s making at Play Expo Blackpool.
Toby and Gabe were both shattered towards the end of the first half term of the year and they were both ready for a break. Gabe has settled into Reception really well now and he’s loving learning to read and write, but he was only four a few months ago and it’s hard work for him to concentrate all day, and hold all his emotions in so we’ve had quite a lot of emotional outbursts at home to deal with.
We all benefited from a weekend away enjoying getting outside for some fresh air and exercise. This first picture was taken in Whinlatter Forest when we were half way round the Farmageddon Glow Trail. We had stopped for a breather on a bench with spectacular views of Bassenthwaite Lake and the fells beyond.
This second picture was taken on the Saturday. We had walked up to Aira Force waterfall (which you can see behind us) and I actually asked someone to take a picture of us for once, rather than just taking a selfie, or faffing about setting the camera up and using the remote which we sometimes do.
The rest of our half term was mostly spent at home, although I did take the boys swimming one day, and we went to the cinema too. The boys just needed some time at home to relax and chill out before going back to school for the busy half term up to Christmas.
They’ve been back at school for a week and a half now, and apparently nativity rehearsals have started in earnest. I can’t wait to see both boys in the nativity together this year, it’s going to be so cute!
So anyway, that’s all for now, I’ll be back at the end of the month with another family portrait…
This is the sixth year of taking Me & Mine family portraits every month. You can see all the rest of the posts here.
