Me & Mine // A Family Portrait (January 2020)

Well, I didn’t quite manage to publish a Me & Mine post at the end of January but I’m here now, and two days late isn’t too bad! We didn’t have any big family adventures this last month. It’s mostly been about school, work, swimming lessons and a few birthday parties for the boys.

Most of the big news has been mine this month. I found out a few weeks ago that what I had been told was a ‘non-serious tear’ in my retina was actually a partially detached retina that needs fairly urgent surgery to repair. I’m going to the hospital again on Tuesday to see the consultant and probably schedule the surgery. I’m not looking forward to it (who would?) but having the surgery seems unavoidable so we’ll just have to get on with it.

Just last week, I spent two nights in London seeing three different musicals. The trip was my Christmas present that my whole family contributed too. I had such a good time – I think I might make it an annual tradition!

As we hadn’t really been anywhere in January to take our family pictures I thought it might be fun to recreate the ones we took in 2017 and 2018 in our kitchen. In the first one Gabe was 18 months and Toby was three and a half – they’ve definitely both grown a lot since then!

It’s never easy to get genuine smiles out of the boys but I find tickling often helps…

And just in case you would like to see them, here’s the older two pictures I was talking about…
