We did it! We made it to the end of term and we have already enjoyed the first week of our summer holidays. We haven’t really done much so far. I think we all just needed a few days at home to relax and get our energy back after the last tiring few weeks of school.
At the weekend it was the boys’ birthday party. Although there’s five weeks in between their birthdays (Toby’s was 2 and a half weeks ago, and it’s nearly 3 weeks until Gabe’s) for the last few years they’ve had a joint party. It makes things easier for me and they have quite a few friends who are siblings too so that makes the invites a bit easier too.
This year the boys had a Street Monkeys party. I’ve written about it enough that I’m sure you all know about it by now! They don’t actually do any parcour at the birthday parties though, it’s mostly just playing games and a lot of running about – the kids were all so hot and sweaty by the end of it!
Apparently Toby was so tired he needed a piggy back off one of the coaches at one point…
After the kids had all worn themselves out, and then refuelled with pizza and hot dogs, the coaches gave them a bit of demonstration of some of their tricks and flips. They finished off by doing side flips over all of the children. It was definitely impressive if a little bit scary!
Toby and Gabe had a brilliant time, and so did all their friends by all accounts. And I was glad I didn’t have to do anything except turn up with a cake!
Tomorrow, I’m off to the Netherlands for the weekend with my Mum, and while we’re away Barry and the boys are going to collect our new car so we’ve all got an exciting few days ahead… I hope you’re enjoying the start of your summer holidays whatever you’re up to.
This is my ninth year taking part in this linky celebrating childhood, based on a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” .
If you’d like to see the rest of my Living Arrows posts you can find them all here.
Happy Birthday boys! I watched your stories of them leaping over the kids, I bet they loved it! I hope you had a fab time at the concert last night? x
Hope you’re having a fantastic time in the Netherlands – and the boys’ party sounds fantastic. I don’t blame you for doing a joint one, much easier! Plus, so many people are away over the holidays x
