Last week it was Toby’s fourth birthday (and I will get round to writing his four year update soon!) – it was on a nursery day so he opened a couple of presents in the morning then had a cake and pass the parcel at nursery, and got to open the rest of his presents when he came home.
Barry and I spent nearly all day making a Numberblocks birthday cake as requested by Toby – I’m going to put a tutorial up soon too. I did all the cakes and icing, and Barry made all the features, which ended up being much trickier than I had imagined!
Anyway, I was really pleased with how it turned out – Toby loved it, although after the first piece refused to eat any more because apparently the icing was ‘revolting’ so Barry’s work colleagues were treated to quite a lot of cake last week!
We haven’t had a party for Toby’s birthday – partly because I’m mean and can’t be bothered organising anything until I can’t get away with not doing any more, and partly because my mum and dad are on holiday and we’re just going to do a small family and friends party for Toby and Gabe together when they get back.
I don’t think Gabe really understood what was going on, or why Toby was getting to open presents. He quickly claimed the birthday balloon as his own – I think it lasted two days before I took it away when they couldn’t stop fighting over it! It’s only a month until his birthday though (I can’t believe he’s going to be two soon!) and he can have some presents of his own to open.
I didn’t take many pictures of Gabe this week, with it being all about Toby really. I like this one though – apart from that he’s got his dummy in because he had been super-grumpy on the way home from nursery. He wasn’t letting go of that balloon though, whatever else was going on…
Incredible cake!! My son recently turned 3 and I did consider making a Numberblock number 3 cake…
If he still loves Numberblocks next year I shall definitely give it a go! His favourite episode is the Octoblock super hero one đŸ™‚
Toby looks so pleased!

If I’d thought about it a bit more I should have just made number 4!
Oh Happy Birthday Toby!! That cake looks amazing – I don’t think I’d ever attempt to make one myself! x
