Living Arrows 27/53 (2018)

I feel like a bit of a broken record these last few weeks but we’ve really just had another normal, but roasting hot, week this week. The boys have been coping pretty well, and we’re lucky that are bedrooms are at the bottom of our house which is built into a hill and so they stay relative cool at night – I mean, they’re about 23 degrees but it’s certainly bearable.

I’ve got some more water pictures this week. Barry left yesterday morning for a four day work trip to Austria, so after a morning in the house Toby and Gabe were starting to get a bit stir crazy. I decided to get out the paddling pool for the first time, I think since Toby was a toddler! Luckily it didn’t have any punctures and I even managed to connect our hose pipe to the outside tap so filling it up wasn’t too hard either.

Gabe eating an ice lolly

Once I got the pool set up the boys had an ice lolly each – I can’t remember where I picked up these lolly moulds, we’ve had them ages. I used to make ice lollies with fruit puree when Gabe was smaller but now we usually just use blackcurrant squash. Gabe has a bit of a love/ hate relationship with ice lollies and ice pops though – he always wants one but then he doesn’t actually like them that much and ends up giving half of his to Toby.

Toby shivering in the paddling pool

And Toby, bless him, he wasn’t too sure about getting all wet at first but then we put the slide into the paddling pool and he was loving it. I set it up in the shade though (that sun paranoia again) and although it was really hot, after half an hour of playing in the cold water he was shivering! He was determined to keep playing and having fun to the last minute though.

The weather is set to get even hotter next weekend apparently – we’re thinking of heading to LEGOLAND Manchester for Toby’s birthday so hopefully the lovely weather will mean it’s quiet there for us. I can’t believe that in a week and a half I’m going to have a five year old!

  1. It sounds like the boys have had a great time this week. Gabe looks like he’s enjoying his lolly despite being unsure. I hope Toby has a great birthday and Lego Discovery is a little less busy for you x #livingarrows

  2. We still haven’t got the paddling pool out – it’s making me feel like such an awful parent but, to be honest, A and T are happier coming inside when it’s too hot or playing in the sand and water table! x

  3. Sounds like a lovely afternoon and as for legoland, I hope you all have a great time and the weather stays nice #livingarrows
