It’s a little late in the day but I couldn’t not publish my first Living Arrows post of 2018 on the first Monday of the year. Hopefully after this week I can get back to my posts being a bit more timely! If you read my last Living Arrows post you’ll know that I have been taking part in this linky since it started in January 2014 which means we are now heading into our fifth year of weekly pictures of the boys!
We haven’t really done much in this strange week of limbo between Christmas and New Year. We’ve had a few quiet days at home – Toby has been loving getting stuck into all the Lego he got for Christmas and Gabe has mostly been making us all play bingo (from a set we got last Christmas but he’s just discovered!).
By yesterday though everyone was definitely getting stir-crazy being in the house, and as the sun was finally shining we headed out for a walk along the estuary not far from where we live. It was a bit windy but not actually that cold – apart from when we stopped to eat our packed lunch, then Toby had a moan because his hands got cold.
He was mostly happy though because he got to bring his Dinosaur Hunting Kit that my brother got him for Christmas. I mentioned it last week – he was loving carrying his bag, and using his binoculars and camera. Note to self though – remember to take our extra binoculars next time so Gabe doesn’t have a meltdown about not having his own!
Gabe was a little bit moany to start with too but he was happy soon enough when he realised walking with Grandad and splashing in puddles was actually pretty fun…
It was a very muddy walk actually – and I don’t know what is wrong with my kids but despite wearing waterproof trousers, and wellies for Gabe and Toby’s new waterproof walking shoes, they still both freaked out about walking in the mud! I thought children were supposed to like that sort of thing!
Anyway, that’s all from me for this week. I hope you all had an enjoyable New Year’s Eve however you spent it – we stayed at home and I got mad with our neighbours setting off fireworks, even though the boys actually slept through them all anyway!
So Happy New Year from me and mine, and we’ll see you back here for another Living Arrows post next week.
Muddy walks can be the best kind! Happy New Year <3 #LivingArrows
Wow, 5 years of Living Arrows. That is awesome! I took part for a full year in 2017 and I loved it. I love seeing everyone’s photographs and getting ideas for days out too. Happy New Year. #LivingArrows
My daughter happily takes any opportunity to splash in puddles. Even the little tiny ones haha I bet she would relish in showing them how it’s done! I really need to invest in a waterproof suit for her! Happy New Year!
YAY! So pleased you’re back for another year. I’ve loved watching Toby and Gabe grow and can’t wait for another year of their gorgeous faces! x
I’ve got 2 years of LA photos and love it! Definitely one of the best linky’s to do. gorgeous photos x
I remember when we used to put J in her waterproofs and she freaked out and then the days when she didn’t wear them she’d jump in every puddle she could find! Kids are funny things aren’t they? #LivingArrows
A dinosaur hunting kit? That sounds like so much fun.
Love the splash shot! We’ve just ordered M a waterproof all in one so she can get out in the mud more – hopefully she’ll like it but she’s a wary little thing so might respond in the same way as your boys! #LivingArrows
