Me & Mine // A Family Portrait (March 2018)

So, another month gone and we are now a quarter of the way through the year! March was a fairly quiet month for the most part. After a speedy recovery from his broken foot Gabe had his plaster cast taken off at the very beginning of the month (and was back to jumping off the sofa again within a few hours!)

I had a lovely Mother’s Day – we didn’t do much but the boys both made me cards, and Toby spent the whole day asking me if I was having a nice day which was very sweet. The week after Mother’s Day I took my mum out for afternoon tea – a first for both of us, but I have a feeling it will be the first of many!

In the last week of term Toby went to his first ever school disco – he was a bit apprehensive about going but had a great time when he got there. He’s doing so well at school, and I even got to go in one morning this month for a ‘stay and learn’ session – it was lovely to actually see what he gets up to because he never really tells us much at home.

Gabe is doing great at preschool still too – he goes in happily (almost) all the time and he loves the day he gets to take packed lunch and stay all day. He’s even started eating it all in the last few weeks too! He’s been doing really well at swimming lately too after our very rocky start at the end of last year. He’s even moving up to the next class after the holidays.

We are heading into our second week of the Easter holidays tomorrow – at the end of last week we went away to Yorkshire for a few days. I’m not going to write too much about it here because I’ve got a whole post planned all about it. We had a really lovely break though – it’s so much easier taking the boys on holiday now than it was a year ago when we went to Bluestone.

I had great plans to use the big camera and get some proper family pictures this month… but we have somehow managed to lose the remote (and I ordered a new one but it didn’t arrive before we went away), and then we were going to take a picture outside our cottage before we left but it was raining, and basically we just didn’t manage it again!

So this month we’re having to make do with another phone selfie – this one was taken on a bridge over the River Nidd in Knaresborough while we were away. You can see the town’s famous viaduct in the background too. It would actually be a good picture if Gabe wasn’t pulling such a weird face (he was on the carrier on my back at the time) but I guess we can’t always have everyone smiling and looking at the camera!

I hope you all had a great month and a lovely Easter weekend. I’ll be back at the end of April with another Me & Mine – we’ve got a busy month coming up though with trips away for both me and Barry so I’ll have to try even harder to find time for a family picture!

  1. Great photos, I do love them when they haven’t gone quite according to plan, you can feel a little bit more in the moment looking at them.
