Living Arrows 49/52 (2021)

I can’t believe there are only two weeks of school left before we break up for the Christmas holidays! We do finish very early this year, with a full week at home before Christmas Day but this half term still just feels like it has absolutely flown by!

I have at least managed to get most of my Christmas shopping done now. The boys posted their letter to Father Christmas earlier this week. They decided to write a joint letter because almost everything they asked for was something for them to share. They both play with the same toys and video games so I guess it makes sense for them to ask for shared presents – I’m just going to make the most of it for now because I don’t think they’ll want to share everything forever!

With the start of advent this week the boys excitement levels have been climbing every day. We put the tree up this weekend too so everything is feeling more festive in the house too. I just need to try and manage their excitement a bit now though… we’ve still got 3 weeks to go after all!

I’m trying not to think too much about the whole pandemic thing at the moment because it just makes me worried and sad. There have been cases at school recently though, so I’m just hoping if we do catch it then we get it soon so we won’t be isolating over Christmas. I had my booster vaccine last week, and we’re wearing our masks and doing regular lateral flow tests so there’s not much else we can do right now except cross our fingers and hope for a Christmas miracle!

This is my ninth year taking part in this linky celebrating childhood, based on a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” .
