Living Arrows 36/52 (2021)

Wow, I’m so late with this week’s Living Arrows post that it’s almost time for next week’s! The boys (and me!) went back to school on the 2nd September so we only had a couple of days that first week, and we’ve just done our first full week back.

The boys have settled right back in to their new classes, and I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the new Reception class, although I’m exhausted after going to back to work to my first ‘proper’ job since before Gabe was born 6 years ago!

All our other activities are back on now too, so Gabe had his first Beaver meeting on Monday night, Toby had his first night at Cubs on Tuesday, I was at a PTA meeting on Wednesday and they both had swimming on Friday night. Saturdays are our day off and then Sundays are for Street Monkeys. No wonder we’re all tired already!

Anyway, I could let the start of a new school year pass by without some traditional ‘in front of the door’ pictures. I know I say it every year, but I can’t believe how big my boys are getting!

The boys only wore their trousers for the first two days – with the hot weather we had for the last week they were back in their shorts. They’re allowed to wear summer uniform until October half term at their school, which means they can still wear their polo shirts and the shirts and ties don’t have to come out for another month or so yet.

Of course we had to have the signs that I’ve been making since Toby started in Reception. Toby still wants to be a Game Developer when he grows up, and out of nowhere this year Gabe decided he wants to be a Fire Fighter (and a YouTuber)!

Gabe upgraded from a bookbag to a backpack this year and chose one almost the same as his brother’s. It looks so big on him though – still, hopefully it will last for a few years at least! You can see all their keyrings dangling off the zip pull too – does anyone else’s child have half a gift shop hanging from their bags too?

I hope everyone had a successful return to school – only 6 weeks to go until half term!

This is my ninth year taking part in this linky celebrating childhood, based on a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” .

  1. I do not remember having so many keyrings as child. But mine are the exactly same. Glad to hear you have all settled back into routine. I am struggling with time too! Our Cubs start back this week and then we will have something on every day!
