Remembering Childhood // The Mum Diaries

It’s that time of week when another blogger is going to be sharing their childhood memories. This week it’s from Jaymee from The Mum Diaries.

Which decade were you born in?
I was born in the late 80’s (1989) but grew up in the 90s
What is your earliest memory? How old were you?

My dad used to make a video diary everyday, we would come home from school and we would have to sit on the sofa and tell the camera what we got up to.

The Mum Diaries

What was your favourite toy at 5 years old? At 10?

Favourite toy at 5 was probably  my Barbies and it was still the same at 10.

Do you still have any toys from your childhood?

No, I only have my bunny who I went to bed with every night. My husband has all his toys though which he is slowly introducing to our boys.

Who was your favourite pop group/artist as a teenager?

I had lots! Boyzone and O-Town – my sister and I used to love this song…

What was your favourite TV show(s)?

Rugrats, 50/50, The Wild Thornberrys and Moomins.

What was the first film you remember seeing at the cinema?

About a Boy. My mum and I spent the entire day at the cinema. We watched About a Boy, Crossroads, About a Boy, The Scorpian King and About a Boy again. We loved that film!

Do you have any dodgy haircut/ outfit memories that you’d rather forget?
I used to have to wear tinted glasses growing up as I had photo-sensitivity. I remember going to the seaside in this beige Minnie and Mickey top, grey joggers and a light hoody! What on earth was I thinking!
What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to look after children. Ever since I was little I wanted a big family and to own a nursery.

If you could go back to being a child again what age would you choose and why?

I would be 14. I loved spending time with my family. No bills, no work. I hated school, but knowing myself now I would work harder!

Thank you for sharing your childhood memories Jaymee – I can’t believe you saw About a Boy that many times in one day!

If you enjoyed this post then please do come back next week when another blogger will be remembering their childhood. You can also read all the other posts in the series here.
