Living Arrows 5/52 (2017)

Here we are again, this year seems to be going so fast! We’ve not been up to much over the last week – I don’t know what it’s been like where you are but it’s been freezing here! I did make more of an effort to do stuff with the boys last week though.

On Monday we went to pick up some supplies from Hobbycraft and then came home and made a glitter ‘calm down’ jar. I don’t know if it’s helped with calming down at all but both boys enjoy giving it a good shake!

Later in the week my mum came over for lunch then we went out for a coffee (and a cake for Toby). We didn’t manage much this weekend except a quick trip to the garden centre to use our monthly free drink vouchers!

All this meant I hadn’t really taken many pictures of the boys this week so I got the camera out last night after tea. Taking pictures of children in really rubbish artificial light isn’t easy but I actually quite like the ones I managed to get…

I used the flash on this picture of Toby, which I never normally do. I quite like how it turned out, although it does highlight the fact that I have not yet mastered the art of giving him a haircut that is even on both sides!

It’s pretty impossible to take a close up of Gabe at the moment because he always reaches for the camera whenever you get near him. I like this picture though – even with a bit of blur at the bottom.

  1. I’m finding it hard to get photos of the girls in this cold and rainy weather, as we are not really going anywhere that exciting. I love these photos and yes you can notice his hair, but only because you have pointed it out 🙂 x #LivingArrows

  2. Aw i like both pictures. I think there’s almost something quite natural in Gabes pic. The blur adds something to it. As fpr the hair cut….it looks fine. You’re much braver than i to do it! #LivingArrows

  3. It’s really tricky to get photos of the children at the moment isn’t it. I’ve been poorly for weeks, and that combined with the cold/wet weather means we’ve really not been out and about much at all. I really like your photos for this week though, especially the one of Gabe where he really does look like he’s thinking about the best moment to pounce and grab the camera! x #LivingArrows

  4. I like the idea of a calm down jar. I think, stereotypically, that boys are more full of energy and need calming down more than girls – see very stereotypical! But, there are times when Athena reaches her peak and we could really do with that! x

  5. Ooh, I love the idea of a calm down jar! A fun project even if it doesn’t actually help them calm down! He he! I can imagine the process of making it would be calm though! Thee are great photos, I’m terrible at taking good photos in artificial light. You’ve done a really good job here! x
