Living Arrows 44/52 (2020)

This post is super late again this week, I really must try harder! We had a lovely relaxing half term with lots of time playing card games, watching TV and playing video games and a lot of rain!

Barry took a few days off work so we managed to spend a bit of one on one time with the boys too. We should really make the effort to do it more often because I think we all enjoy it.

Toby had some book vouchers to spend so one morning I took him to spend them in a local independent bookshop. He has real trouble making decisions sometimes, especially when it comes to spending money. He gets very anxious about making the wrong choice and ending up with something he doesn’t like.

With this in mind I knew it would be stressful if I took both boys to the bookshop together – it was lovely to go on our own so Toby could take his time and come away with something he was happy with.

The next day it was Gabe’s turn so I took him to the cinema. Toby really isn’t a fan so he was happy to stay at home with Daddy. We went to see Two by Two: Overboard – not the greatest film I’ve ever seen but enjoyable enough. And with pre-booked seats and plenty of social distancing the cinema felt as safe as it could in the current situation.

While we were at the cinema Toby and Barry had a game of Space Hulk (a Warhammer board game). Barry has been wanting to play it with Toby for ages but it’s quite complicated so he needed to wait until he was old enough to understand it, and enjoy it. By all accounts they both had a great time so it was a win all round really.

Then, towards the end of the week we found out there had been a case of Covid in Toby’s class so he had to self-isolate until Thursday of this week. Because most of it was during the holidays (we weren’t told until a week after the positive test!) it has meant I’ve only had him at home doing school work for 3 days… I wonder how long it will be before one of them has to isolate again though?

This is my ninth year taking part in this linky celebrating childhood, based on a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” .

  1. Our two loved Two by Two: Overboard and I felt the same as you – not the greatest! A and T are just the same with money, so much anxiety over making decisions where money is concerned! x

  2. Sorry to hear about the positive test in school, I hope you are all okay and back to normal now. I do think that we will be spending the next few months in and out of isolation. The game sounds ace.
