Living Arrows 30/52 (2020)

Well, that’s one week of the summer holidays done, only five more to go! We had a lovely first week though. Barry had the week off work, and we went on our first ever family camping trip!

I’m planning a post all about our camping trip but we definitely enjoyed our few days in the tent. Of course there was a bit of moaning and squabbling from the boys but on the whole they really enjoyed their first camping experience.

While we were away we went to our first National Trust property since they reopened. It was one we hadn’t been to before; Erddig near Wrexham. The boys are still getting used to being out and about at the moment and aren’t that keen on walking very far, so we just had a walk round the gardens and ate our picnic lunch that we had taken with us.

We had such a good time camping that we’re already planning our next trip – probably to the Lake District towards the end of the summer I think, as long as things keep improving on the corona front of course!

This is my ninth year taking part in this linky celebrating childhood, based on a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” .

  1. Glad you’ve had a lovely time camping albeit the odd squabble! Fully recommend camping in the Lake District, it’s beautiful. We stayed at a camp site near Keswick and there was lots to do in the surrounding areas- Grasmere gingerbread is an absolute must!

  2. I envy everyone with their camping trips. Some of my favourite childhood memories involve camping but it’s not something I can muster any enthusiasm for as an adult! x
