We made it through our first full week back at school. Well, actually only the boys did a full week, I wasn’t in on Wednesday as it was my Dad’s funeral. It was a hard day, but so many people came and it was actually lovely to catch up with loads of people that I’ve not seen for years. I just wish it could have been in happier circumstances!
I don’t know if it’s because we got used to the slower pace of life during all last year’s lockdowns or if it’s because I’ve taken on more this year, but life seems so busy at the moment. I think a lot of it is probably because I’m in work every day now, when I used to have all the time the boys were in school to do all the life admin stuff that now has to be squeezed into evenings and weekends.
Although we all like a bit of time to relax at weekends, the boys nearly always have homework to do too. Does anyone else hate those Twinkl SPAG mats?! I’ve got an A level in English but I still have to look things up for Toby’s Year 4 grammar nearly every week!
Sunday is always bath day too – the boys usually have a bath in the afternoon after Street Monkeys. We stopped bathing them at bedtime years ago because it was never a calming experience, it just got them all worked up right before it was time to go to sleep! Afternoon baths work much better, and the boys are still happy to share at the moment, although I don’t know how much longer that will last. If nothing else there’s not much room for both of them in the bath now!
At the grand old age of 6 and 5 months Gabe has just discovered the joy of making his hair stick up in the bath, so that’s what he spends most of his time doing now!
I think that’s all my news for this week…. we’re already on the countdown to half term now, only four weeks to go, and I’ve just booked a cottage in the Lake District for us to get away for a few days. I can’t wait! Have you got any plans to go away any time soon?

I hope the funeral went as well as it could, sending hugs. Sunday is bath day here too. He looks very pleased with himself. I think we must be later on the half term as we still have four weeks as I write this. I have booked something although I am not sure we will get there as the virus is rife at the moment in the boys classes.
