Living Arrows 19/52 (2021)

It’s another rainy Monday here in the North West. I’m really hoping this weather sorts itself out by the end of the month because we’ve got our first camping trip of the year booked at half term! Anyway, it’s been another normal week here with nothing very exciting going on. I’m just grateful for every week we get through without anybody’s bubble bursting or having to self-isolate!

The boys were back at Street Monkeys on Saturday. They both absolutely love it and it’s brilliant to watch them (literally) throwing themselves into it. This week they were trying something called a tic tac when you take two steps up a wall before turning round and landing on your feet, and their first attempts at cartwheels too. I can’t wait to see them building on their skills – maybe they’ll be back flipping before we know it!

I took this week’s pictures at the boys swimming lesson yesterday. For the first time in ages I actually felt like Toby was making progress and I could really see an improvement in his swimming. He’s always had trouble keeping his bottom up when he’s swimming on his front but it did loads better with it yesterday.

Gabe is making progress too, especially with putting his face in the water. He still won’t do it while he’s swimming but has been practicing picking sticks up from the steps and putting his whole face in the water to do it. He used to hate the water going in his ears when he was on his back too but that doesn’t bother him at all now either. Fingers crossed we can keep the lessons going now without any more disruption and they will keep improving!

That’s all from me this week, like I said there’s really not much going on at the moment. I’m getting my second Covid vaccination on Friday though so that’s something to look forward to this week!

This is my ninth year taking part in this linky celebrating childhood, based on a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” .

  1. I hope you get some lovely weather for your camping trip- it hardly feels like May at the minute does it! Glad that the boys are back at swimming, that’s something I’m worried about with my daughter, we’ve not been in so long that it’ll be like starting from scratch again.

  2. I can’t wait for ours to go back to swimming lessons. Our local leisure centre closed for refurbishment so they went somewhere else – and that place has now closed! We’re in swimming limbo! x

  3. I am also really hoping that the weather improves as we are off to Cornwall. Sounds like their swimming lessons are going really well. I still need to find swimming lessons for the boys

  4. It’s so good seeing kids enjoying swimming lessons again. I went to watch my pair this week and it really made me smile seeing them enjoying the water. I really hope the weather improves for half term.

  5. The weather is truly rubbish isn’t it! My two do swimming lessons too – such a shame how disrupted it’s been but hoping they will start to make some progress now!
