Living Arrows 17/52 (2020)

Here we are again, another Monday morning. I don’t know about anyone else but time seems to be speeding up again a bit at the moment. At the start of lockdown a week seemed to take forever, but somehow it doesn’t feel very long at all since I was writing my last Living Arrows update.

I just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who commented on my last post with words of encouragement and solidarity. I’m kind of glad to hear we’re not the only ones finding things a struggle.

The last week was OK – we didn’t get much school work done again but I decided not to worry about it so much and so we had a much less stressful week. The boys both did a bit of school reading, we watched some more Let’s Go Live science with Maddie and Greg (if you’ve not seen it on YouTube it’s great and you can find it here, there are new episodes at 11 am every day), and they’ve been working on some LEGO challenges together.

One positive thing that is coming from being in the house together all day is that Toby and Gabe are getting much better at playing and just being together. They still have their squabbles (and plenty of them) but they are getting better at sorting it out themselves, rather than me having to intervene to break up fights all the time.

To be honest I think if that is the only positive thing that comes out of this situation then we won’t have done badly at all!

We’ve been getting outside for a bit every day still – although often it doesn’t happen until the half hour between tea and bedtime. Yesterday though we did get in the garden for a while in the afternoon. The boys were playing on their old baby slide – they are both far too big for it now really so were mostly using it as a ramp for their toy cars!

I love taking pictures of the boys while they’re distracted by playing, because as soon as they notice me with the camera they both start posing and pulling silly faces. I love this serious one of Toby I managed to capture…

That’s all for this week I think. We’ve still got sunshine here today but I think there’s rain forecast for later in the week so we’ll see how that affects us – we’ve been so lucky with the weather so far!

This is my ninth year taking part in this linky celebrating childhood, based on a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” .

If you’d like to see the rest of my Living Arrows posts you can find them all here.

  1. So pleased to hear they’re getting on better! Athena and Troy seem to be winding each other up all the time now – roles have been reversed!! x
