Living Arrows 16/52 (2022)

After our stay in Yorkshire in the first week of our Easter holiday the second week was a bit more chilled. We had a few pyjama days at home as well as a couple of days out. Sometimes the school holidays seem to fly by but it actually feels like we’ve had a decent break this time, and it helps to know we’ve got a few four day weeks coming up in the next half term too!

We managed to catch up with my friend Claire and her twins on Thursday for the first time since last summer. We met up at Ninja Warrior in Wigan which is about half way between our house and where they live near Chester. The boys all loved it – it was good fun, although as expected for the Easter holidays it was pretty busy.

On Saturday we went to my Mum’s house for an Easter dinner. We finally ate the turkey that we didn’t get to have at Christmas because both the boys had covid! We also took the chance to try putting up our new tent on the grounds of my parents’ Scout hut. It’s a massive air tent and so it wouldn’t fit in our garden! It was easy enough to put up (and pack away) – we can’t wait for our first camping trip of the year in a few weeks to try it out for real!

While I was cooking our Easter dinner the boys alternated between playing in the garden and watching the FA cup semi-final with my brother. This toy hard hat has been at my mum’s house since the boys were toddlers – I don’t think they’ve ever really played with it before but for some reason decided to get it out this weekend!

It was a lovely sunny day for playing outside. You can see how hot and sweaty Gabe had got. He’s got a very wonky smile at the moment – you can sort of see on this picture that one of his front teeth has already come out and the other is really wobbly and almost hanging down lower than his other teeth. He’s actually got 5 wobbly teeth – one of the bottom ones is hanging on by a thread too! I think the tooth fairy is going to be busy over the next few weeks!

Anyway that’s it for our Easter holidays – we’re back to school tomorrow. I hope you’ve had a good break if you’re back to school tomorrow too, and if you’ve got another week off then I hope you enjoy it!

This is my ninth year taking part in this linky celebrating childhood, based on a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” .

  1. The Ninja Warrior place looks great- though I’m sure Daddy would enjoy it more than Iris!
I’ve not been on the link up for ages and can’t believe how much Gabe has changed- he looks so different and so grown up.
