Living Arrows 15/53 (2018)

And so the Easter holidays are over. It’s been a long two weeks but we’ve had some great times (and plenty of squabbles too!) – I can’t say I won’t be pleased to have a bit of time back to myself tomorrow morning when Toby and Gabe are back at school and preschool.

I mentioned last week that I was thinking of taking the boys to see Peter Rabbit at the cinema – well we did brave it and they were both superstars. Gabe was a bit overwhelmed when we first went in but he sat on my knee and watched the film all the way through. It definitely bodes well for future trips anyway.

On Thursday we met our friends at Martin Mere – its a Wetland Centre not too far from where we live. I’m sure I went there on a school trip once but I haven’t been recently. It was a lovely sunny day (the only one we’ve had this holiday) so it was really busy but we still had a good time. There was a giant duck hunt for the boys to do – although it did mean they spent more time focusing on finding the giant rubber ducks than looking at all the actual real life birds that were all over.

As always Toby carried his dinosaur backpack round with him all day. My brother got it him for Christmas – it’s got binoculars, a bird book, note book and pencils in there. It’s not light but he insists on taking it whenever we have an exploring kind of day out – at least he does carry it himself though and doesn’t try to give it to me!

Yesterday we celebrated the last day of the holidays by going out for lunch in Lytham. We went to The Black Sheep Tea Room – I’d highly recommend it if you’re ever in the area, the cakes were amazing! Of course Gabe still needed a bit of distraction while we were waiting for our food to arrive, he’s going through a phase of loving his Kindle again at the moment, but is a lot more reasonable about turning it off than he used to be so we don’t really mind…

After lunch we had a walk along the sea front and even managed a look inside the windmill. It was great to get some fresh air and have a run around. Today we’re back to school and preschool and our normal routine, and I don’t know about Toby and Gabe but I’m definitely looking forward to it!

  1. It sounds like you had a lovely end to the holidays – and it’s so odd that we’ve been off for another week. We really need to go and see Peter Rabbit x

  2. Sounds like the perfect way to end the holidays we have been off this week too. So back to school for us on Monday coming I’m not really looking forward to the workload waiting for me! Hope you all settled back into the routine well x #Livingarrows
