Happy Easter! I hope you all managed to have an enjoyable weekend even if it wasn’t the one you had originally planned. We were supposed to be in Yorkshire until Friday but then would have had a quiet weekend at home anyway so it wasn’t much different for us really!
Because we were going to be away last week, Barry had booked some time off work. It seemed a bit daft for him to have the whole week off still but he still took a few days. Of course we couldn’t go anywhere but it’s been nice to have him around to help occupy the boys so I could have a bit of a break too.
Most afternoons while he’s been off work they’ve spent a couple of hours each afternoon playing on the computer and PlayStation so I’ve been able to have some time to myself just to watch TV with a cup of tea in peace!
Yesterday was a bit different though – we’ve never really done much in the way of celebrating Easter, and with the boys not even being at school they didn’t even realise it was Easter Sunday (or Easter Egg Day) yesterday until we told them!
Last year I did a little hunt with clues around the house and they really enjoyed it so we did the same again this year. I cheated a bit this year though and just copied some clues I’d found on Facebook, although Toby and Gabe had no idea so I don’t suppose it matters. They used the Easter baskets we made last year too.
There was something that was different this year though – Gabe could read some of the clues by himself (with a little bit of help!). He’s been refusing to read most books since he finished school because they aren’t his school reading book, but he’s been reading plenty of other things so I’m not too worried.
Toby enjoyed the hunt too, although he did need a bit of encouragement not to charge off and find all the eggs first without giving Gabe a chance to look for them too! Anyway, they’ve now got enough chocolate to last a good few weeks – they’re pretty good at rationing it so it will keep them going for a while I think.
I hope you are all still managing to keep your spirits up as much as you can in these strange times – it’s going to be so weird when we’re allowed out again and the kids go back to school, I’m almost getting used to just being at home all the time!

We didn’t get around to doing am Easter Hunt. We usually head to family but of course we couldn’t and Easter just felt like it appeared out of no where.
I wouldn’t worry too much about the reading, i think if you write down the reading he does do you’d be surprised by how much he has read.
Sounds like a lovely Easter. I miss the days of making hunts for the kids. Of course they still look for chocolate to magically show up but aren’t so keen on the hunting for it anymore. It gets more fun when they can read the clues too. Sweet shots as usual.

Reading is such a massive milestone isnt it. We didnt do an egg hunt his year and im regretting it now.
Sounds like a lovely egg hunt, I wish I had done some clues this year. We also needed some encouragement for the eldest not to find all the eggs. Can not say that I am looking forward to the juggling act from Monday
