Give your home an autumn makeover

**This is a collaborative post

With autumn fast approaching, it’s time to think about what additions you can make to your home that’ll really bring that autumn vibe. Autumn is one of the cosiest seasons, with Halloween, bonfire night and the leaves finally falling, it really starts to feel like the run up to Christmas. These simple little additions to your home will bring a great autumn vibe.

Candles and Potpourri

There’s something about a lightly scented room, with the curtains drawn and the fire roaring that can bring peace after a hard day. And, as the nights are drawing in, comfort and warmth are what everyone will be seeking. These two simple, yet classic additions to the home can instantly change the vibe of a room. Some warm orange/brown coloured potpourri, that’s lightly scented with maple leaf an oak will bring a cosy feel to any room. Couple this with an autumn scented candle that will bring hints of spiced apple and pumpkin, and you’ve got yourself a cosy autumn living room.

Even though the days are getting shorter and colder, autumn brings a few events that’ll mean some of us with Children will be spending a little more time outside than we’d hope for. Bonfire night is the perfect event to get all the family together, so why not look into getting a cheap outdoor log burner. Shops are selling them for incredibly low prices such as £25, and there’s nothing like being huddled round a burning fire with marshmallows or chestnuts roasting. Throw in some fairy lights, and you’ve got yourself a perfect setting for both bonfire night and for the rest of autumn and winter!

Dining Room

Family nights are what autumn is all about. Most will consider mealtimes to be the one time where quality family time can take place, so adding some autumn tones will really make the room welcoming. One simple addition that can be done is purchasing an adjustable lamp. Rather than having the main light glaring down on everybody, a small corner lamp will help to relax the room and bring a calmer vibe. Adjustable lamps are perfect for setting the mood, if things are a little too dull, just turn it up to brighten the mood. Make sure you search for one with a deep orange colour to follow the theme through the house. One more idea could be switching your placemats for some warm orange one’s. A small touch it may be, but it’ll really stand out against any dining table and chairs, and again will follow the theme throughout the house.

Bedroom

The final, but most important room of all. There’s nothing quite like being snuggled up in bed with the wind and rain that autumn brings hammering down outside. Advice from all the other rooms can be used in the bedroom. A warm coloured candle and the adjustable lamp will be perfect for making the cold nights seem nice again. If budget allows, a nice brown or dark orange fluffy bed throw could be the icing on the cake, especially if you forget to keep the heating on during the night!

Hopefully, these tips have helped inspire you to bring some autumn decor to your own home. If you have any of your own tips, we’d love to hear them!
