It’s that time of week when another blogger is going to be sharing their childhood memories. This week it’s Louise from Little Hearts, Big Love.

Which decade were you born in?

I was born towards the end of the 1970s

What is your earliest memory? How old were you?

My earliest memory is standing by the orange toilet that was in our flat above the pub where my dad was the landlord. I don’t remember anything other than the fact the toilet was orange. I must have been two as we moved just before I turned three.

What was your favourite toy at 5 years old? At 10?

My favourite toy at 5 was my Dream Glow Barbie. She had a glow-in-the dark dress covered in stars. My favourite toy at 10 was my rag doll Susie.

Do you still have any toys from your childhood?

Most of my toys were passed on to my nieces and nephews but I still have a few toys. My rag doll Susie now lives on the spare room bed and I have my talking Teddy Ruxpin and Grubby in the loft along with my dolls’ house. At some point I’ll get them down for the girls to play with.

Who was your favourite pop group/artist as a teenager?

I was a big fan of Boyzone.

What was your favourite TV show(s)?

I loved Bagpuss, Button Moon, The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin and Knightmare.  I also remember wanting to go on Fun House.

What was the first film you remember seeing at the cinema?

Bambi.  I still can’t watch the scene where Bambi’s mum dies.

Do you have any dodgy haircut/ outfit memories that you’d rather forget?

Shellsuits. What were we thinking?!  I also remember having my hair permed when I was about 14 – thankfully the curls dropped out after a couple of weeks.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a doctor.  I got as far as applying and getting a place at medical school before deciding I was too squeamish to be a doctor and so became a midwife instead!

If you could go back to being a child again what age would you choose and why?

I would like to be about 9 or 10. I had the best teacher at school that year and I just remember having lots of fun with my friends at that age. It was a time when I could just fully enjoy childhood without worrying about looking uncool which is what I remember about the early years of secondary school.
