What is your earliest memory? How old were you?

I’m not sure if it’s a real memory or I’ve been told this story so many times by my parents (and also have photos about it) that I think this is my earliest memory: my 4th birthday party, summer afternoon, wearing a pink and white checkered summer dress, barefoot, eating the chocolate cake (still my favourite) my mum made for my birthday and I have my friends from kindergarten over at our house. This was my first real birthday party.

What is your earliest memory? How old were you?

My earliest memory is of my Grandad taking me to a café on the industrial estate in Denbigh and my Grandma doing the ironing in my house. My mum had been taken to hospital and I was around two years old. I can remember my Grandad had a plaster on his hand and my Dad came home from work in the afternoon. It was probably the first time I had been away from my parents for an extended period of time which is why I can remember it so vividly.

What is your earliest memory? How old were you?

My earliest memory is playing in the front room of our first family home. My best friend lived two doors down the road and so we were always at each others houses. I remember dancing along to Kylie’s ‘Locomotion’ with her around the lounge, obviously we knew all the moves. I’d have been about four then.

I didn’t walk until I was 22 months old and I remember not being able to walk when we went to the doctor’s surgery. My mum put me down and that was it, I was stuck there unless I shuffled. I have lots of memories of that doctor’s surgery including when I could still fit in the table-top scales.

At five years old I had a hand-knitted panda called Tony. He wore a nightie, usually. As he was a bit heavy and I made my big sister carry him. At ten I played with my Sindy house although I was starting to get a bit big for it.

What is your earliest memory? How old were you?

I think my earliest memory was when I was around four years old. It was my uncle’s wedding and I was a bridesmaid. Strangely, I have no recollection of the bride or the wedding itself, but I do vividly remember my grandmother being helped down a set of steps to a wedding car. It’s funny the things that stick in the mind! I think I must have been worrying that she might fall (she didn’t, thankfully!).

What was your favourite toy at 5 years old? At 10?

At age five, I definitely remember having a red plastic Snoopy lunchbox, in which I kept my prized collection of Neigbours cards! I remember my friend’s mum picking me up from school and she would always take me and my friend to the shop on the way home, to choose some sweets. I always politely declined the sweets but asked for a packet of Neighbours cards instead! I’m still a Neighbours fan now, nearly thirty years on!
