Me & Mine // A Family Portrait (February 2017)

I’ve seen a lot of Me & Mine posts today all saying how fast February has gone. I know it’s the shortest month but it really does seem to have disappeared in the blink of an eye.  We’ve had the usual winter coughs and colds all month, along with a nasty bout of tonsillitis for me but nothing too serious at least.

We haven’t really been up to much in February (apart from my flying visit up to Scotland) but Toby and Gabe have been a lot of fun this month. Toby is just a sponge at the moment and wants to know everything about everything. And Gabe’s personality is really starting to shine too, he’s turning into such a little character. He’s even been sleeping a bit better too!

Once again though the month has got away from us without us taking a family picture so this one was grabbed this morning before I took the boys to nursery. Hopefully next month’s photo will be a bit more exciting as we’re off to Bluestone in Wales next week for a little holiday!

Me & Mine February 2017

Living Arrows 9/52 (2017)

This week’s Living Arrows photos were taken this weekend. We went to a Christening / birthday party on Saturday but didn’t really have any plans for Sunday. Toby was going a bit stir crazy in the house so we just went out onto the street outside our house for him to have a scoot up and down and burn off a bit of energy.

I actually took loads of photos of him scooting and then pulling silly faces but I really like this one with the serious expression on his face…

And when we came inside Gabe had got up from his nap and I still had the camera out so I got a few shots of him too. Read more

Remembering Childhood // KatyKicker

It’s that time of week when another blogger is going to be sharing their childhood memories. This week it’s Katy from KatyKicker.

KatyKicker

Which decade were you born in?

The 80s.

What is your earliest memory? How old were you?

My earliest memory is being 2 years old and playing with dogs, Alsatians, that I think belonged to a neighbour in the first home I ever lived in.

What was your favourite toy at 5 years old? At 10?

What’s in my changing bag? // Pacapod Oban

I know some people love having lots of different changing bags but I’ve only ever had two…that is until I was sent a lovely Pacapod Oban in mocha to try out.

Pacapod Oban Mocha

The main design feature of all the Pacapod bags are the detachable ‘pods’ that they come with. The Pacapod Oban has a changer pod and a feeder pod which fit neatly inside. The pods can be unclipped from the main bag and used separately – it also means you can make extra space in the main bag if you need it.

The changer pod includes a folding changing mat and a small wet bag. Read more

Living Arrows 8/52 (2017)

The last week has mostly been about continuing to recover from our illnesses of the week before. My tonsillitis is gone now thankfully and although they’re still a bit snotty the boys are feeling much better too.

Gabe has been in the wars a bit this week though – on Monday night I was trying to get the tea ready before Barry got home from work, I gave Gabe some baking trays and dried pasta to play with on the kitchen floor so I could keep an eye on him. Which was fine until Toby decided he would come and play too. Somehow he managed to accidentally whack Gabe right on the forehead with a baking tray and left him with a really nasty looking bruise and a bump too. Then at nursery on Wednesday he fell over when he was playing at the water tray and caught his cheek on the water wheel ending up with a cut there too. He didn’t seem too bothered by either injury but just looked a bit of a mess! Read more

Homesick for my old life

I’m writing this on the train, on my way home from a lovely night in Dunfermline. Dunfermline, the place I called home for 13 years until we upped sticks and moved back to the north west last summer. And as I leave I’m feeling a bit homesick for my old life – can you even be homesick for a place that isn’t home anymore?

Before we moved, I was involved in local musical theatre. I was in about 10 different musicals in the time I lived here but the last one was before I got pregnant with Gabe. This week the company I used to be in were performing Priscilla Queen of the Desert so I decided to come up for a night to see the show. It was also a chance to catch up with some of my old friends as I joined the cast and crew at the Chinese buffet after the show. Read more

Exante Diet Flexi Solution

Back in 2014 I tried out the Exante Diet Total Solution for one week and wrote all about it here. Since then I’ve had another baby and moved house, and found myself in need of losing some weight again. Having two small children though means that a total meal replacement diet isn’t really what I’m looking for any more. And so that’s where the Exante Diet Flexi Solution comes in.

Exante Diet Flexi Solution Giveaway

The Flexi Solution is a 1200 calorie flexible diet – it combines two Exante meal replacement products, one healthy recipe meal and an Exante snack every day. This kind of plan fits in really easily to my family life – I can have my meal replacements for breakfast and lunch but still eat dinner with the rest of the family. We try to eat healthy meals anyway so with a few adjustments we can still all eat the same meal in the evening. Read more

Living Arrows 7/52 (2017)

The last week has been pretty awful as weeks go… Gabe’s cough and cold is still sticking around and his cough has really started to bother him at night so sleep hasn’t been great. Then last Monday I started getting a sore throat. Overnight I had a temperature but was shivering and by the time I woke up I could barely swallow. A trip to the doctors and I was diagnosed with bacterial tonsillitis and prescribed antibiotics.

Luckily it was a day the boys were at nursery so I thought I would get chance to rest but I got a phone call at lunchtime saying Toby had a temperature and I had to pick him up. By the time I got him home his temperature was normal and there didn’t seem to be anything wrong with him except a snotty nose. Nursery policy meant he couldn’t go back for 24 hours though.

All that would have been bad enough but on Wednesday morning I had an interview at a local school for a job starting in September. I had to teach a lesson and have a formal interview, all whilst struggling to swallow, let alone do anything else. Barry was working at home with the intention being he would take the boys to nursery in the morning but of course he had to have Toby at home until lunchtime. Read more

Living Arrows 6/52 (2017)

Another fairly quiet week here – after me saying in our January Me & Mine post last week that we had got through the month without being ill we all came down with colds! Toby is just really snotty but OK in himself. Barry has been suffering with a sore throat and cough and even had a day off work last week. Poor little Gabe has got a constantly dripping nose and a cough that has been affecting his sleep. And I seemed to have recovered the quickest but I am so fed up of wiping snotty noses now. And snotty faces – does anyone else have a toddler who manages to just wipe snot all over their own face every two minutes?! Read more
